BRIEF SAFFCAWU HISTORY
SAFFCAWU like all other Trade Unions in SA is registered with the Department of Labour since the 14th December 2015 LR 2/6/2/2414.
Further as required by the SA Companies Act, SAFFCAWU is also a registered NPO since 17th November 2015 with Department of Social Services.
This Union emerged in a collaboration of workers from Forestry Sector, Farm Sector and Catering Sector who assembled in a National meeting at Makhado on the 10th January 2015.
In this meeting, SAFFCAWU constitution was adopted and a National leadership elected plus all resolutions of growing the organisation were adopted.
Today SAFFCAWU is receiving a massive response from all the sectors workers associated with its scope and the paid up membership is now ranging above 1500 as a start in three months in the labour market.
It is the objective and the set target by the National Executive Committee of the newly born Union to record 5000 paid up members by the end of November 2016.
Currently the Union operates in one National office based at Thohoyandou and a possible launching of a Sattelite National Office in Middelburg Mpumalanga soon.
Two fulltime officials are up and down all corners of SA recruiting vulnerable workers within the scope of the Union to be liberated from the wrong doings of employers.
A part time cleaner who also renders administration job is appointed working at the National office in Thohoyandou,
Theres a standing resolution of the NEC to appoint two contract organisors that will work on bringing more membership in the Union in the two identified areas which are Malelane and Hazyview.
If the identified potential of membership in this areas of Malelane, Komatipoort, Nelspruit, Sabie, Graskop, Hazyview, Acornhoek, Tzaneen, Makhado and Messina bears fruitful results, the Union will lauch branch offices possible at Sabie, Malelane and Tzaneen.
This branch offices will surely need fulltime appointed officials to do the day to day serviceng of the members since this Union is built purely for members interests not of individual gains.
Members must be assured that this Union will always comply with all legislated provisions of LRA and all provisions of the Non Profit Organization Companies Act of SA.
Members will also benefit weekly to note all programmes of action and achievements within the Union nelwy launced website.
The Union Constitution, Leadership, Membership form and contacts will also be made available at all time within this launched website.
Members are further urged to make informed inputs to the website and also comment and praise in all means to ensure their organization achieves what it stands for.
